Directions and Parking on Campus

Special $9 Inauguration Day parking is available at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts on parking level B between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. with complimentary shuttles to the Charles E. Smith Center.

For those who choose to travel to campus by car, special Inauguration Day parking has been arranged in partnership with the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. The daily parking rate is $9. A specially commissioned shuttle will depart every 10 minutes. Look for signs on the shuttles that read “GW Inauguration.” Shuttles will run from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Please allow yourself plenty of time to park! We recommend that delegates in the processional park no later than 8:30 a.m. and guests to the ceremony park no later than 9 a.m.

Walking: It is a 10 minute walk from the Kennedy Center to the Charles E. Smith Center. From
the north side of the building, take New Hampshire Avenue and turn right onto Virginia
Avenue.From Virginia Avenue, turn left onto G Street and walk three blocks to 22nd Street.The
Charles E. Smith Center is on the corner of 22nd and G streets.

Driving Directions to the John F. Kennedy Center

From Northern Virginia:

Via the Theodore Roosevelt Bridge (I-66 & Rte. 50):

Take the first left upon crossing the bridge, staying to the left on the Potomac Expressway (toward Rock Creek Parkway).At the yield sign, turn left and proceed to the second stoplight at Virginia Avenue. Turn left on Virginia Avenue. Turn right onto 25th Street and follow the signs for the Kennedy Center. Proceed to parking level B.

Via Key Bridge (Rt. 29/Lee Hwy.):

From Key Bridge, take the first right onto the Whitehurst Freeway. Proceed to the stoplight at 27th Street. Turn right and proceed to the second stoplight at Virginia Avenue. Turn left on Virginia Avenue. Turn right onto 25th Street and follow the signs for the Kennedy Center. Proceed to parking level B.

Via Memorial Bridge (from I-395):

From I-395 North, take Exit 8B, Washington Blvd. towards Pentagon/Arlington Cemetery/ Rosslyn/Memorial Bridge. Merge onto Washington Boulevard. Take the Rte. 50 West/George Washington Memorial Parkway North exit.Merge onto Arlington Memorial Bridge and get in the left lane.Begin to loop around the Lincoln Memorial (at right).Take the first left onto 23rd Street and get in the left lane. After E Street, turn left onto Virginia Avenue. At the second stoplight, turn left onto 25th Street and follow the signs for the Kennedy Center. Proceed to parking level B.

From Maryland and Northwest D.C.:

Via the Capital Beltway (I-495 from I-270 S and I-95 S):

Take I-495 toward Tysons Corner (if coming from I-270, take I-495 South; if coming from I-95, take I-495 West).Upon crossing the American Legion Bridge, take exit 43 onto the George Washington Memorial Parkway. Take the GW Parkway approx. 12 miles to the right-hand exit onto Rt. 50 East via the Theodore Roosevelt Bridge (toward D.C.). Take the first left upon crossing the Roosevelt Bridge, staying to the left on the Potomac Expressway (toward Rock Creek Parkway). At the yield sign, turn left and proceed straight to the second stoplight at Virginia Avenue.Turn left on Virginia Avenue.Turn right onto 25th Street and follow the signs for the Kennedy Center. Proceed to parking level B.

From Downtown D.C.:

Via GW Foggy Bottom Campus (at 22nd and H Street):

Go west on H Street toward 23rd Street.Cross through 23rd and 24th streets.Bear left onto New
Hampshire Avenue, towards Virginia Avenue. Turn right at light onto 25th Street. The Watergate complex is on right. Follow signs for the Kennedy Center. Proceed to Parking Level B.Via Independence Avenue (west from the Capitol).

Via Rock Creek Parkway South:

Turn left onto Virginia Avenue.At the second stoplight, turn right onto 25th Street and follow
the signs for the Kennedy Center.
